The Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and Texas Tax Code Section 11.18(c)(1), (or the corresponding section of any future United States Internal Revenue Law).

The Texas Lettering Arts Council seeks to educate and train children and adults about the history of written language, handwriting and the calligraphic lettering arts which promotes literacy while building self esteem and encouraging creativity and imagination. The Corporation seeks to provide cost-reduced and/or cost-free educational opportunities to the public and private sectors, while enhancing public awareness, interest and appreciation of the calligraphic lettering arts.

According the Articles of Incorporation, the board members are elected and there is no general membership. The board members meet on a regular basis to discuss the business and focus of the organization.
