For the past 30 years, Jerry Tresser has researched and developed methods for
gilding. He developed a method of using gum ammoniac for gilding and a slaked plaster recipe based on Cennini’s centuries-old formula. Monoline lettering is a great way to learn new styles of lettering and to delve in to the principles of lettering, layout, and design, without the added challenge of working with complicated tools.
Appropriate for all levels of experience. Ideal for those who are new to lettering arts. This workshop is a condensed version of an full semester – college level course.

The Elements of Design
for Lettering Art

This year-long study will be held one Saturday per month for 9 months, in addition to an online component. The course is designed for calligraphers and lettering artists who have a minimum of 3 years of recent lettering experience and who wish to take their skills to the next level. The dates for this year-long study in 2019 are: JAN 5, FEB 2, MAR 16, APR 6, MAY 18, JUN 15, JUL 13, AUG 17, SEP 7, and SEP 21 (Makeup Day).

Our model represents four types of educational settings:

Tutorial – Comprised of 30 minutes up to 3 hours in length.
Class – Can last up to 6 hours in length. A class can be made up of 2 or more sessions.
Workshop – Session is comprised of hands-on experience up to 8 hours per day.
A workshop can be 1 to 5 days in length.
Course – Comprised of at least 3 classes or workshop sessions.
